Authority and responsibility are linked
Authority and responsibility are interconnected. You cannot have authority without taking responsibility and no one should be expected to take responsibility without being given the proper authority. In scripture, authority is given based on faithfulness. If a man or woman is faithful in small things, God will entrust them with bigger things. The same should be true in the local body. Those who show themselves faithful to God, His word, and their area of ministry should be counted worthy of greater responsibility.
In scripture, deacons and elders are first tested and then given greater leadership. They are faithful men who are also called by God.
