Psalm 17:7-8 – apple of your eye

A lovers gaze - pupil
Look so deeply that you can see your reflection
Not a distant God, but one who is so intimate that He reflects back

You were created for a purpose

Psalm 139:13-18, 23-24

You were designed with attributes and flaws for a purpose
You will never fit outside of God’s plan
Not smart enough, strength, looks?
We are created to be filled by God, not ourselves
Flaws are by design
Anything else will be like a square peg in round hole
Only God can fill the gaps

God’s plan is born out of a trusting, intimate relationship

I have the right to override
Afraid God will send me to Africa?
Psalm 37:4, delight yourself in the Lord…
My desires will be right and God can bless
God does not call me to succeed or achieve
Love God with all heart mind soul and strength

Must die to self – Luke 9:23-24

To die takes trust
I die so God can raise me
My intimacy with God depends on my willingness to change and trust
Daughter at the river, uphold hand and direct steps
Our purpose is not to seek benefits, but our relationship with God

Satan will do anything to get you off target

Search for more, fill lives with things and business

Illusion of satisfaction
Saturation point

God created all pleasure and good within His design

Our purpose is not our benefit, but our relationship with God
Outside of a relationship with Christ, there is no lasting peace/satisfaction

Jesus died to bridge the gap so we could have fellowship with Him
God is merciful, but also just
Mercy does not nullify justice, but paid the penalty demanded
God is the God who forgives, but takes vengeance on deeds
Will avenge and punish every sin
Already avenged on the cross
No greater sin than to count to blood of the covenant as without value
Sin is disobedience to God

It is the Father-heart of God:

That says, He shall cover you with His feathers and under His wings you will find refuge
It was the cry to Jerusalem… “How I longed to gather you under my wings as a hen her brood, but you would not.”
