Final Thoughts

A different god
Across the board we can see that the Word of Faith movement is a different religion that follows a different gospel. They have a different god. He is a man just over 6 foot tall and weighs a couple of hundred pounds. His power is by harvesting the force of faith. Our God of the scriptures is not a man. God is Spirit and can only be worshipped and spirit and truth.

A different heaven
Word of Faith’s heaven is a planet in which their god lives. He replicated the earth in the image of his home planet. Because they have a different heaven, eternity is blurred and this becomes our heaven. That is why Benny Hinn criticizes passages that talk about streets of gold in glory as he states that he has got to have gold now. Without any eternal perspective, people cast true inheritance to the wind and grope for all they can grasp now.

A different Satan
The Word of Faith Satan is a divine form himself. He is the god of this planet who prevents God from doing anything without permission. To bring Jesus into the world, God had to sneak around so that Satan would not stop him. The Bible teaches that Satan is subject to God and needs God’s permission. God declares that His purposes will be accomplished and nothing can stop His hand or even ask God what He is doing. The Bible teaches that the earth is the LORD’s and all of its fullness.

A different mankind
The Word of Faith version of mankind is not the man created by God in the Bible. Their man was created equal to God without any sense of inferiority. He was not subordinate to God, but was a replica of God. Their man is a god and mankind is still god. The Bible tells us that we are created in the image of God to reflect His glory and to have fellowship with him. Our Bible teaches that man will never be a god.

A different Faith
Word of Faith teaches that faith is a mystical force that we must harvest. With the power of the force of faith, we possess the same power and same abilities that God possess. The Bible teaches that faith is believing God and putting our trust in Him. The Bible says, Abraham believed God and it was accounted to Him for righteousness” and “that faith is what justified Abraham”.

A different Christ
Word of Faith has a different Christ. He is a mere man, created as a god-person in the same sense that we are gods, but not any more divine than we are. They teach that you are everything Jesus was, is or ever shall be. Word of Faith’s Jesus was created by the words of faith spoken by the prophets. Their Jesus took on the nature of Satan. The Jesus of the Bible does not change but is eternally the same and uncreated. The Bible teaches that Jesus humbled Himself, veiled His glory in a robe of flesh, became a servant and died for our redemption while remaining fully divine. When Jesus returns, the Bible says that all things will be put under His feet and every knee will bow and confess Him as Lord.

A different Redemption
Word of Faith has a different redemption. They profess openly that redemption is not found in the cross but in realizing our potential through faith. Jesus showed the way. We must realize our own divinity. Any ‘born-again’ man could have redeemed mankind if he knew what Jesus knew. The Bible reveals that redemption is in the cross alone. Faith is putting our trust in Christ. Sin was put to death in Jesus’ flesh and Jesus triumphed over sin, death and all principalities through the cross.

A different revelation of God’s word
Larry Lee once said that his words were more authoritative than the Bible and that made him a prophet of God. Word of Faith religions have a different scripture. They believe that their own revelations are to be considered as the speaking of the Holy Spirit even if it contradicts the Bible. We as Christians understand that the Bible is the proven Word of God and everything is to be compared to it. Even the apostles used the Old Testament to show that they were not teaching anything different than what God had already revealed. The Old Testament declares that God’s world is eternal. Jesus declared that heaven and earth will pass away, but the Word will never pass away.

A Different Gospel
I have used quotes and writings directly from this movement to prove beyond a doubt that this is a different gospel. In every foundational point of doctrine, the Word of Faith movement teaches contrary to the scriptures. The Old Testament tells us that God will allow false prophets to deceive people as a test. Will people follow the man or the sensationalism, or will they stand true to God. Those who truly love God will follow truth. God said that those who follow these are an abomination to Him. In the New Testament we are told that many will arise and show false wonders and lead people away from the truth. We are commanded to test the worker against the scripture to see if they have the Spirit of God. We are commanded to turn from them and not allow them to teach. Those who side with them are an abomination (unless they repent) and those who allow them to deceive are partakers in their evil deeds.

Most who teach these doctrines call themselves Word of Faith churches, but some do not. Regardless of the title they choose, we can identify them by the doctrines they bring. 2 John 1 clearly warns us:

7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
8 Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward.
9 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.
 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him;
11 for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.

Many overlook that it is a deception. If they did not sound good and were not persuasive, they would not be deceivers. Just because they claim they have the doctrine of Christ does not make it so. The doctrine of Christ is the doctrine of who Jesus is, what He taught. Jesus is the Word of God made flesh, not the words of God made flesh. Anyone who rejects the Bible, rejects Jesus and the Father.

This has not been a popular series. I received more criticism during this series than all others combined. I had more people depart during this series than all messages I have presented combined. However, I have presented scripture to refute Word of Faith teaching. If I am presented with a doctrine that claims to be divine truth, and I take that doctrine delivered to me and compare it to scripture, is that an attack? Of course it is not. If someone criticizes me for judging false doctrine by saying that Jesus said not to judge, aren’t they judging in order to criticize these messages? Judging someone for judging is a self-refuting argument. Someone who studies the Bible will now that Jesus commanded us to judge. He only warned not to judge according to appearance and not to judge by a standard that we are not willing to be judged by. The Bible also warns us to judge the gospel we are being presented and judge a false teacher as being accursed by God. Galatians 1 says:

6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel,
7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.
9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

I hope you have benefited from these messages. If you have not, I encourage you to just look at the scriptures I presented and see if they agree with the teaching you have received. If they do not, then you must choose whether you believe what God has said, or if you believe the prophets, elders or interpreters who are teaching a different gospel. If the Bible says that it is not really a gospel, it cannot save you. If God said the teacher of another gospel is accursed by God, so are those who chose the false gospel over the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Consider the scriptures. Salvation is only in God’s plan of redemption through Jesus Christ as presented in the Bible.
