Question:

My son came home with information he was taught in school. His science teach said that it has been mathematically proven that diamonds take millions of years to form and this proves the Bible wrong. We have always believed in a young earth creation. What evidence can we teach to our son that prove or disprove this statement?

Answer:

Keep in mind that proof for evolutionists is not always proof. In my study on 'Defending Creation' I noted that what is stated as a theory by one evolutionist is quoted as proof by another. Dark matter was the example I used. One scientist theorized that dark matter may exist; the next quote was a scientist that said it likely exists; the next said it must exist; and finally it is stated as a fact that it is known to exist. In reality there is no such thing as dark matter but it was an imaginative idea that helps evolutionists explain away observable science.

A theoretical idea is always quoted as fact if it supports evolution. In reality, diamonds have not been proven to be millions of years old. In fact, recent discoveries have baffled evolutionists. Diamond crystals have formed in relatively short periods of time in the earth's crust where high pressure and high heat create rapid rock formations. Two articles are found on Answers in Genesis' web site:

The strength of the evolutionist argument comes from two strategies. 1 - bold assertions. What they lack in facts they make up for by claims of superiority and elite intelligence. 2 - Weaving around evidence. If you exclude evidence you can prove or disprove anything. It is a fact that evolutionary science excludes more than 90% of dating results. I have documented quotes from evolutionists acknowledging this in my study as well. Here is an example of proving anything by excluding data. The Bible teaches that women are dangerous drivers.

Acts 27 states:
we let her drive
and so were driven
all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

I haven't altered the information in any way, I only excluded 90% of the information that I decided was irrelevant. If we look at 100% of the data, the information tells a completely different story:

Acts 27:

14 But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.
15 And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.
16 And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:
17 Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven.
18 And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;
19 And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.
20 And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

This is the same type of manipulation that evolution uses. If you want an accurate picture of the facts, read the arguments for and against young earth creation. Then you will get a better snapshot and you will know why each side objects to the other. Then you can judge for yourself which argument is the most accurate. The Supreme Court of the U.S. ruled that it is legal to teach creation science as long as it is taught with evolution science. Yet teachers are fired and the evolutionists are outraged when creation is mentioned in the classroom. There is a reason why evolutionists do not allow creation to be mentioned in the classroom (unless it is to mock it). When all the facts are present, evolution can't be justified. Evolution depends on exclusion of the facts that it cannot answer. Any facts that contradict evolution are labeled as 'religious'. When it is classified as religious, they can ignore it and refuse to address the objections.

I would recommend getting well researched creation material and comparing it side-by-side to the evolution arguments presented. Keep in mind that if your son builds an air-tight argument for creation and presents it to his teacher, he will be mocked and you will almost never get an evolutionist to read contradictory material. If they do read it, they will not answer objections honestly. I say this so that you can be prepared and not have high expectations. When objections are answered, break down the argument and examine it. They always sound good on the surface but are very weak when examined truthfully.
