Evolutionist argument:
Your assertion that if one of a cells functions are removed that the cell
always dies is not true. This is why grain companies like Monsanto can
genetically manipulate a plant organisims' genetic structure to produce
desired variants with differing characteristics. This is not necessarily
good for us to be messing with this genetic structure, but it is how it
works. Anyhow, my point is that removal of function doesn't always kill.
Sometimes it provides adaptation.
My response:
Your example isn't entirely accurate. They do not remove any elements from
the cell. What they do is isolate plants that have the features they
desire. They manipulate the features by cross pollination, chemicals and
nutrients. They do not remove cell elements. Genetics is not removing
elements, but manipulating what is in place. Even cloning does not remove
cell material. The nucleus is removed from the 'mother cell' and replaces
the original nucleus. The end result is that the same elements are still
present.
